Festive Season on the Southern Hemisphere✨

The end of the year is approaching fast. It all feels very strange – we have just moved the clocks forward an hour to be on daylight savings time, it’s getting hotter every week – summer is coming!

Christmas? Really? We had xmas jumper day and hot chocolates in July😆

Growing up on the northern hemisphere surrounded by the Austrian Alps, I’m used to cold, dark nights during the weeks leading up to the big day – 24th of December that is – when “Christkind” is lighting up candles on real pine trees and with the delicious scent of oranges, cinnamon and vanilla in the air.

No trace of all of this here and still, the retail industry celebrates the season, people are eager to shop for gifts and other things they don’t need, getting ready for family reunions, BBQs by the beach and some well-deserved time off. The silly season they call it here: xmas and summer break all together.

Christmas Markets and Snow in The Rocks

I, for once, look forward to a wonderfully relaxing staycation at Manly Beach. After all, we already live in paradise … where others spend their holidays😎

Loving the life in tropical Down Under and wishing you all a very merry festive season✨
